Description
What is bacteriostatic water?
Bacteriostatic water, often called “bac water,” is clean, germ-free water with a tiny bit of preservative added. The preservative is benzyl alcohol, at 0.9%. It stops germs from growing inside the vial.
What is it for?
Peptides ship as a dry powder, because powder stays fresh much longer than liquid. Before a peptide can be used, the powder has to be mixed into a liquid. Bac water is the liquid used for that.
Why not plain water?
Plain sterile water has no preservative. Once the seal is opened, germs can start to grow, so it is meant for one use only. Bac water can be used again and again from the same vial.
How much do I need?
It depends on the size of the peptide vial. Our mixing calculator works it out for you. One 30 mL vial is enough to mix many peptide vials.
